Lanxi stood outside her hometown, looking at the closed gates as she felt the air grow cold for night was falling. Snow fell around her and landed in small heaps along the walls and at her feet. Her outfit was unpractical for the cold weather but she could not longer feel the cold, her body had frozen from the absence of her heart. She stood there for quite some time before she turned and walked down the dirt road that led away from the Capital of her home, she could only remember one place where her heart could possibly be.
She walked on down the path, further and further from the place she and her best friend had once been. While walking, her feet began to stray from the road and into a large cluster of trees. Her feet seemed to walk familiar steps even though she had never walked the path as Lanxi, but as a different entity entirely, as a girl named Lian. She soon stepped out of the woods to step into a field of crystal snow that had once been filled with so many colors of blooming flowers.
She stared at the world before, cut off from the one she had just left. Water still roared down a cliff as it fell into a small pool below, the waterfall would never freeze as it always had. Rocks encircled the pool and on a rock was a flower, crusted with snow dust and frozen. She walked across the field of snow covered flowers to that single rock, the rock in which she and her first and only friend had spent so many hours away from the noise of reality.
She knelled down, taking up the flower as tears formed in her eyes, remembering all those memories of being with him. She shook her head as she stood up, the flower still clenched in her hand. It was then that she noticed the glow out of the corner of her eye. She turned, towards the waterfall, to find that glowing was coming from within the pool of water just below the cascade of water. She whipped her eyes and tilted her head at the glow, wondering just what it could be that would glow in such a warm light.
It was then that she remembered why she had come here, but the memories of her past life had stopped her from her mission. She shook her head again, trying to push away the memories for a later time and set the flower down onto the rock it had laid on before. She then turned towards the glow and climbed onto the rocks, feeling her whole body give off the icy chill of her element. She knelled down and touched the tip of the rippling water with her finger, causing the pool to freeze. The only flow was from the water rushing from the waterfall into the hole that could not freeze, which was what she had had intended.
She stood up again and walked atop the water with the light steps of a dancer, walking right up to the funnel of water. She looked into the water below her and saw the glow had moved, and was still moving. It left the pool and seemed to climb up the waterfall until it was level with her head. She raised her hand and went to touch the waterfall but the water seemed to part, not touching her skin. It puzzled her why this was happening but she shook her head, putting it way to think about later. She reached in and seemed to take the glow in the cup of her hand, withdrawing it from the curtain of water.
As it was now out of the water, the glow seemed ever brighter, as if it had been closed in darkness for many years before finally being set free.

It was a silly thought she told herself upon returning to the castle, but it seemed to have always stayed with her, even after she had given up the heart for the castle. But even so, she thought she would have felt empty again by giving up her heart, which had felt so whole in her hand. But in truth, she felt more whole than she had ever did, and it made her feel good. She just hoped that it would stay that way, for if she were to leave into that world of emptiness again, she doubted she could survive a second time.
I know that this is probably late, but two days shouldn't be much of a big deal, school has taken over my life (damn you school) but I enjoyed typing up this story, even though it took me about an hour to type up. I had a really good feeling with it and just let it write itself. Hope it turned alright for the event.

EVENT
'The castle is dieing and there is nothing we can do to stop it. But... what is this? The castle is calling for something... our hearts.

Your mission: Find your heart and sacrifice it to the castle, your heart could save us all!

Start Date: 10 September 2012
End Date: 10 October 2012'

Lanxi's heart was in the place she had gone to many times as Lian with her best, first and only friend, Shun. She had a feeling that the heart would be there, since it's such a special place to her. I think I described it rather well, even though it was winter in the story. (The heart wouldn't have been there during the summer, just thought I'd add that in. I'll let you guess as to why)

Lanxi and the 'garden' belong to :iconleopup13:
Land of the Dragons (even though it was never mentioned) belongs to Square Enix.
